The short version
Hawktalk is on-device voice AI, operated by Osprey — one person, no corporate curtain to hide behind. You pay for a plan through PayPal; we never see your card. Subscriptions are annual and billed once upfront — the current year is non-refundable, and you cancel future renewals yourself in PayPal. The full terms below say the same thing, slower. No black box.
1 Who you're dealing with
These Terms govern your use of hawktalk.ai and the Hawktalk products and services (together, the "Service"). Hawktalk is a product operated by Osprey as an individual sole proprietor based in the United States.
To be honest with you: Hawktalk is not a registered company. There is no LLC, no corporation, no state of incorporation to name — an LLC is planned but not yet formed. When we say "we," "us," or "Hawktalk," we mean Osprey, the person operating this Service. We won't dress that up as something it isn't.
You can reach us any time at hawk@hawktalk.ai.
2 Accepting these terms
By using the Service, joining the founding list, subscribing to a plan, or making a Friend of Hawk contribution, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. If you're using the Service on behalf of a company or team, you confirm you're allowed to accept these Terms for them.
You need to be old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live (generally 18) to subscribe or pay.
3 What Hawktalk is
Hawktalk is on-device voice AI: speech in, reasoning, speech out — designed to run on the silicon in your hand. The Service comes in two shapes built on one engine:
- The assistant — a personal voice assistant designed to run private-by-default, resident on the phone NPU.
- The Voice API — the same engine as a developer API, offered in the subscription tiers below.
Performance figures shown on our site labeled "Measured" are measured on real hardware (a Galaxy S25 Ultra for on-device numbers, our server tier for server numbers) — they are not projections. That said, your real-world results depend on your device, your workload, and your network, so we can't promise identical numbers for you. Any example turn or trace shown on the site marked "illustrative" is exactly that — an illustration.
4 Plans, pricing & billing
The Voice API is sold as monthly subscriptions, billed through PayPal. Current tiers:
Prices are in US dollars. Each plan bills monthly. Unless you cancel, your subscription renews automatically every month at the then-current price, charged through PayPal.
We may change plan pricing or features going forward, but a change will never retroactively alter a year you've already paid for. If we change the price, it only affects renewals after we tell you.
"Billed monthly through PayPal — we never see your card. Cancel anytime in PayPal to stop future renewals; the current month is non-refundable."
You cancel a subscription yourself, inside PayPal — that stops all future renewals. Canceling stops the next charge; it does not refund the month you're currently in. The full refund policy lives on the Refund page.
5 Friend of Hawk
"Friend of Hawk" is a one-time believer contribution of $15 or more — not a subscription. In the words on our page:
"One-time, non-refundable contribution — a believer's vote, not a subscription. Minimum $15; pay more if you're feeling it."
Because it's a vote of faith rather than a purchase of a defined product, a Friend of Hawk contribution is non-refundable. As a thank-you, Friends of Hawk get: a spot on the founders' wall, their founding price honored for as long as the program runs, and the chance to upgrade before anyone at launch. Your friendcord invite and founding status follow by email — Hawk sends them by hand, so allow a little time. If you don't get a PayPal confirmation within about 15 minutes of paying, email hawk@hawktalk.ai with your order id.
6 Payments & PayPal
All payments — subscriptions and Friend of Hawk contributions — are processed by PayPal. This matters and it's the honest truth: Hawktalk never sees or stores your card or bank details. That data lives entirely with PayPal and is handled under PayPal's own terms and privacy policy.
The only thing Hawktalk learns about a payment is the confirmation identifier PayPal hands back — your subscriptionID or orderID — which we show you on-screen as your receipt. PayPal also emails you its own confirmation. When you pay, you're also agreeing to PayPal's terms.
7 Your account & acceptable use
Keep your credentials and any API keys secure — you're responsible for activity under your access. Don't:
- Use the Service to break the law or to harm, harass, deceive, or violate the rights or privacy of others.
- Attempt to breach, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the security, rate limits, or access controls of the Service.
- Resell or sublicense the Service beyond what your plan allows, or share access to evade concurrency limits.
- Use the Service to build a directly competing product by scraping or copying it.
You are responsible for the content you send through the Service and for how you use its output. If you seriously or repeatedly break these rules, we may suspend or end your access.
8 Your data & privacy
We collect very little. The only personal data Hawktalk itself gathers is the email address (and the tier you flag interest in) you give us to join the founding list. We don't sell your data, and we don't run ad trackers on you. Payment data lives with PayPal, not us.
The on-device design means your voice is intended to stay on your device — "your voice never leaves the phone" is the architecture we're building toward, not a marketing flourish. The full details, including the third parties involved (PayPal and Formspree), are in the Privacy Policy.
9 Intellectual property
The Hawktalk name, wordmark, site, and the software behind the Service belong to Osprey. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service according to your plan — nothing more. You keep ownership of the content and inputs you bring to the Service, and of the outputs you generate with it, subject to your following these Terms.
10 Warranty disclaimer
We work hard to make Hawktalk reliable and honest, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet every need — it's an early product operated by one person, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise.
11 Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Osprey will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid Hawktalk in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.
12 Changes to the Service & these Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may update these Terms as the product and the pending business structure evolve. When we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where reasonable, give notice. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13 Governing law & contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Osprey resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. We'll try to sort out any dispute directly and in good faith first — reach out and we'll actually talk to you.
