Who you're dealing with
Hawktalk is operated by Osprey, an individual sole proprietor in the United States. (An LLC is in the works but not yet formed, so there's no corporate entity to name.) When this page says "we," it means Hawktalk / Osprey. Questions about a payment or a refund go to hawk@hawktalk.ai.
Subscriptions
Hawktalk's paid plans are the Voice API tiers. All of them are monthly subscriptions, billed through PayPal:
What that means in practice
- You pay month to month. The current month is non-refundable — once it's charged, we don't prorate or refund the current term.
- You can cancel anytime from inside your own PayPal account. Cancelling stops the next renewal — it does not refund the month you're already in.
- Cancellation happens in PayPal, not through Hawktalk. PayPal manages your subscription, so you're always in control of whether it renews.
- When a subscription goes through, PayPal shows you a subscription ID and emails you a confirmation. Keep it — that's your receipt.
Friend of Hawk
"Friend of Hawk" is a one-time believer contribution — a way to back the project early. It is not a subscription and it does not auto-renew.
What that means in practice
- It's a one-time charge of $15 or more, whatever you choose. There's no recurring billing to cancel.
- It is non-refundable. You're voting with your wallet that Hawktalk should exist — please only contribute what you're happy to give.
- In return you're on the founders' wall, we honor your founding price for as long as the program runs, and you upgrade before anyone at launch. Your friendcord invite and founding status follow by email — Hawk sends them by hand.
- PayPal gives you an order ID and a confirmation email. Save the ID — if you don't get your invite, email hawk@hawktalk.ai with it.
If something actually went wrong
The non-refundable terms above are about changing your mind — not about broken charges. If you were double-charged, charged in error, or something clearly didn't work the way it should, that's different. Email hawk@hawktalk.ai with your PayPal subscription or order ID and we'll look into it and make it right. Because PayPal is the processor, you also have PayPal's own buyer protections and dispute tools available to you.
Changes to this policy
If we update these terms, the change applies to payments made after the update, and we'll move the "last updated" date at the top. It won't retroactively change the deal on something you already bought.
