Hands-free (ducked VAD)
While the book plays, the microphone is ducked, never muted —
captured audio is scaled by ×0.35 so the narrator's bleed sits under the detector
while you stay audible. The threshold is one constant, calibrated against the ducked
level, and it is never raised during playback. Everything stays in this browser.

Voice capability test
The hands-free loop needs the browser to hand over a RAW microphone —
no echo cancellation, no noise suppression, no auto-gain — while the book is playing
out loud. This measures whether this browser actually does that. Nothing is recorded
or uploaded; it reads the settings back and stops.
